Social Security Fairness Act of 2023

This bill repeals provisions that reduce Social Security benefits for individuals who receive other benefits, such as a pension from a state or local government.

The bill eliminates the government pension offset, which in various instances reduces Social Security benefits for spouses, widows, and widowers who also receive government pensions of their own.

The bill also eliminates the windfall elimination provision, which in some instances reduces Social Security benefits for individuals who also receive a pension or disability benefit from an employer that did not withhold Social Security taxes.

These changes are effective for benefits payable after December 2023.
The Social Security Fairness Act of 2023 was signed into law today.  President Biden also state Social Security Department will be mailing a payment not paid in 2024 to those involved.

Lincoln Avenue, Orange, CA , at 11 AM.   This will be our Retiree Chapter’s 20th Anniversary.  The retiree chapter will pay for a breakfast or lunch meal.

Medicare Part B 2024 Premiums

Each year, the Medicare Part B premium, deductible, and coinsurance rates are determined according to provisions of the Social Security Act. The standard monthly premium for Medicare Part B enrollees will be $174.70 for 2024, an increase of $9.80 from $164.90 in 2023. The annual deductible for all Medicare Part B beneficiaries will be $240 in 2024, an increase of $14 from the annual deductible of $226 in 2023.

Most people I know pay the standard Medicare Part B.  However, those with higher income pay according to the above table.
