The Southwest Coastal Area Local Retiree Chapter   meeting will be on Tuesday, September10, 2024 at the Denny’s located at Lincoln and Tustin,  1695 E. Lincoln Avenue, Orange, CA , at 11 AM.   This will be our Retiree Chapter’s 20th Anniversary.  The retiree chapter will pay for a breakfast or lunch meal.

Medicare Part B 2024 Premiums

Each year, the Medicare Part B premium, deductible, and coinsurance rates are determined according to provisions of the Social Security Act. The standard monthly premium for Medicare Part B enrollees will be $174.70 for 2024, an increase of $9.80 from $164.90 in 2023. The annual deductible for all Medicare Part B beneficiaries will be $240 in 2024, an increase of $14 from the annual deductible of $226 in 2023.

The charts below provide information on biweekly and monthly premiums, including the total premiums, the amount the government pays, and the change in the enrollee’s portion of the premium compared to last year. All FEHB plans offer Self Only, Self Plus One, and Self and Family enrollment types.

Notice for USPS employees: In 2024, the employer contribution rate for FEHB plans is the same across all Postal labor unions and management associations, except for USPS non-career employees or where specified otherwise in a collective bargaining agreement.  FEHB-eligible career USPS employees fall under the same rate category called “Premium Rate.” These premiums do not apply to USPS non-career employees, to USPS annuitants, or where specified otherwise in a collective bargaining agreement.  If you are a Postal service employee and have questions or require assistance, please contact USPS Human Resources Shared Service Center: 877-477-3273, option 5, Federal Relay Service 800-877-8339.

Disclaimer: In some cases, the enrollee share of premiums for the Self Plus One enrollment type will be higher than for the Self and Family enrollment type. Enrollees who wish to cover one eligible family member are free to elect either the Self and Family or Self Plus One enrollment type.

The 2024 biweekly maximum government contribution for most employees and annuitants (72% of the weighted average) is $271.43 for Self Only, $586.50 for Self Plus One, and $646.18 for Self and Family. The monthly maximum government contribution (72% of the weighted average) is $588.10 for Self Only, $1,270.75 for Self Plus One and $1,400.06 for Self and Family.

For 2024, the biweekly program-wide weighted average premiums for Self Only, Self Plus One, and Self and Family enrollments with a government contribution are $376.99, $814.59, and $897.47, respectively. The monthly program-wide weighted average premiums for Self Only, Self Plus One, and Self and Family enrollments with a government contribution are $816.81, $1,764.95, and $1,944.52, respectively.
